New Members Check-In Thread...
As part of our enhanced board security procedures, we are now requiring all new members to check in and let us know you are here by posting to this or any other thread within 1 week of registration.
Every Friday evening, we will purge all members who have been registered for more than 1 week but have never posted.
Since we no longer allow non-posting members, this "check-in" post may serve as your one and only post if you simply want to be a registered "lurker".
But don't be just a lurker!
Everyone has something to contribute!
BEFORE you post your first post, please read the Rules for Posting that are at the top of just about every page on this board.
By posting your first post in here or on any other thread, you signify that you HAVE read the Rules for Posting.
Thanks, and welcome to Timebomb2000!
Kris
Edit to add:
I just want to caution everyone that we have a lot of new members, many of which are long-time lurkers who have been around as long or longer than many of us. They are just as much a part of this board and their posts, now that they have "de-cloaked" so to speak, are just as valuable as any of us oldtimers' posts.
That being said...
The flip side of that coin is that the only way we "know" people is by their posting history...
Regardless of how long you have been lurking and how much you feel like you know all of us and wish to now contribute (and we DO welcome such contributions), please keep in mind that we don't "know" you...yet.
And please bear with us until we DO get to know you a little better.
As many of you know, we have recently come through a difficult time on the board. We HAVE had some "hit-and-run" troublemakers and trolls who just love to toss out some heated or controversial tidbit and watch the fur fly.
Keep in mind that WE (the mods and admins and the other members) cannot easily tell the difference between a recently de-cloaked, long-time, sincere lurker turned poster and a "hit and run" troll looking to stir up trouble.
Please bear that in mind if some of us appear rather sensitive to certain posts in this time of tremendous sensitivity and uncertainty and potential dis-information.
I hope you new members with relatively few posts under your belt can understand that the rest of us cannot readily assume ANYTHING about any poster with relatively few posts.
Like it or not, in this medium, you earn your stripes via your posts...so please DO post and let us get to know you through your contributions but PLEASE do not take offense if we question, ask for further clarification, evidence, links, etc.
I hope this came out like I intended it...
Kris
