In a past life, I was a high school history, government, political science, and geography teacher; ex-Navy enlisted man and Vietnam veteran; banker; journalist; researcher and writer; and public relations type. Add to that, too many retail jobs to remember, or want to. Of them all, the only one I liked/loved, was working for a gun store in Missouri. THAT was cool in the extreme... Didn't bring home any paychecks, but really had a ball...
Divorced father of two, a 26 year old son, and a 20 year old daughter. Semi-retired, and take care of an elderly parent. Live in the Northeast (a tourist "heaven"), and wonder how the weather folks can honestly accept their paychecks. Network with friends and family, and monitor world/regional/national conditions.

I like folks that are genuine, not phoney or poseurs. If you're past, present, or future military, we speak the same language, and are most likely of the same mind... I took THE OATH in 1969, and as far as I know, it has no expiration date. As third generation Navy, I am pleased that there are family members carrying on the tradition of service to my country. To them, and all of those who wear (or wore) the uniform (or will), again, past, present, or future, BRAVO ZULU. You are the best and the brightest...
l have two credos. "You can kill a free man, you can't enslave him," courtesy of Robert Anson Heinlein. The other is, "Never again, the Burning Times."
I wish you all well, and hope that you will forever remain free...

:spns: Hello from the free state of Tennessee. I have lurked for awhile.
Kind of new to forum posting, so if I screw up, be nice, and just tell me. Hope I have something useful to add to the discussion, I'll try. I have a varried work experience spread over 40 years. Started as a newspaper boy at 13, grill cook at 16, structural fitter/welder at 20, shipyard electrical engineering draftsman at 24, greenhouse wholesale grower at 30, petrochemical instrument/electrical designer at 36, carpenter at 43. World traveler as a kid, (dad an Engineer). Speak Spanish ok, other languages a little. Know a little about a lot. Went through Hurricane Rita year and half ago. Changed our lives. Started getting preped just before Katrina and have not stopped. It's kind of getting out of hand.

Hello Everyone,
I'm a newbie on your forum. Long time member and moderator on several yahoo preparedness forums. Full time caregiver to my 15 yo daughter with MD.
Found your forum just the other day from a newsletter I read, and noticed that your postings were mostly the same type I usually post to my groups.
Many comment that they are only interested in TEOTWAWKI planning and preparedness. My feeling is that we are already in a crisis, just not in "the
crisis" we are all expecting. We need to be constantly alerted to our changing
circumstances and how they affect us now and into the future.
Hence my watch words are:
"How Are We Going To Get There From Here"
Living in Kalifornia, I often see the worst of the draconian laws passed
by the mommy state. These laws often trickle down to the other states
in later years. You also see these anti citizen laws passed in New York,
Massachusetts, DC, and lately Illinois. These are the hotbeds which
most need monitoring by concerned citizens and these are the areas
that need support from those within and without to help halt these
Unconstitutional advances upon our future liberties.
I may not end up posting here often as I see several people
posting the same articles that I have recently posted on the yahoo
groups. I commend those of you who do more than look, and
really see things clearly as they are, and speak out and post
accordingly.
Thank You all, and thank you Dennis for admitting me.
Yours,
Ray Fernandez

I am a new member who was referred to the site because I am terrible about keeping up to date on serious issues. SO far I feel as though you are an informed group of people and I plan I contributing when I can. Unfortunately, I feel a little in the dark about many of these issues, but hopefully I will change all that soon.
It is nice to meet you all!
Just received notice my membership was activated. Thank You !
