    A Story for Christian [cougar]

Well you should never encourage a story teller
So sit back and read how to scare a cougar away with a can of grain

Years ago when we first moved this our mountain top home the only fencing
we could afford was Electric fencing now most of the animals respected it and
didn't get out. One night about a hour before dark our horses were acting strange
next thing you know they were though the fence in a panic.

Oh Shoot, so I grab a can of grain, my 5- 9 week Prys puppies decided to following merrier along
bouncing off the back of my legs. As we wander though a grove of young pine trees
the puppies start to whine. Of course I"m calling and looking for the horses and not
paying attention to what the puppies are trying to tell me.

We round a large wild Rose bush and there in the middle of the path was one very upset
Female Cougar. Her ears were pinned against her head and her tail was switching back and
forth. Needless to say I did a very quick stop with puppies running into my the back of my legs
All I could think of is, Please puppies don't make any sudden moves or we are lunch.
Bless their little souls they didn't make a sound.

Ms Cougar was looking at me and the five little lunches behind me
I was looking at her and I was hoping this Cat had never played poker.

So in a very loud voice I started to Tell Ms Cougar to scat and get "HECK" out of my way
at the end of my tirade I threw the coffee can at grain at her..
She took one look at me, I know she was thinking, Stupid human, and TURNED AROUND
    AND LEFT...
At that is my "Cougar Tail"

    just for me, huh?

btw, sounds like you REALLY need a good .44 magnum or even a lever action in .308.
