When Did I Become A 10 Foot Truck?
Well I bought me a truck just the other day,
Wasnt bran' new,but hey what the hey?
It was waxed up and black and it looked so real good
I saw it on the lot and I peeked under the hood.
The engine it was still there,but that didnt sell me,
It was black and was big and it was oh so shiny.
Toolin' round town I knew I caught the eye,
Of some pretty little gals as I went drivin' by.
Went down to Jake's to get me a brew,
But stayed by my truck for a moment or two,
To see what was said by drinkin buds,
And check out the gals that would check out my duds.
See,I was dressed all in black,
Like my hero,Johnny Cash,so cool and rich and sure he was no trash.
He could sing a great song,and if I dressed just like him,
I knew I wouldnt go no wrong.
Ol' Bubba walked up and seemed real taken 'back,
Says,hey a new truck, it sure is pretty and black.
The trouble with ol' trucks tho,or at least that I been tol',
Ya hafta get and stay back at least 10 feet or so.
When ya are acloser,scratches get clean as a bell,
The parkin' lot dings look like they come from.......Welllllllllllllllll
I stomped on inside and grabbed up a bar stool
Drinkin and acussin' and seemed like just a fool.
As the night went on I knew it warnt my day,
The girls they would walk up,and then just bolt away.
I went into the boys room because of drinkin' beer
And then as I was walkin out,I saw myself in the mirror.
I froze right in my tracks,then closed myself and peered,
Those words from ol' Bubba was all that there was to heered.
The trouble with ol' trucks,there is a 10 foot rule,
'Cause ya gittin any closer and then ya get to cruel.
Right then and there, was a moment in my life,
When truth,ol' truth knocks ya down and stabs ya with a knife.
For there and then I could see I'd just run out of luck,
Me,myself and ol' I was a 10 foot big black truck.
So boys keep in mind when you go out atrollin,
That the bait you use gets stale and maybe even moldin'.
Just when ya think that you are a big ol' glossy buck,
Well you wrong,and you wrong,you just a 10 foot truck!
